Also known as Section 21, Seapark is a one-stop destination for affordable and delicious food in Petaling Jaya. You will be spoiled for choice, as a wide range of delicacies, including Nasi Lemak, Curry Laksa, Assam Laksa, Chicken Rice, Beef Noodles and Wanton Mee, are available here. However, finding a parking space here can be a challenge, because this old neighborhood is always packed with lunch crowd on weekdays. The recent success of myBurgerLab has helped Seapark to gain enormous popularity among young people.
Let’s take a look at some of the must-try dishes in Seapark: (The restaurants are arranged in no particular order)
A visit to Seapark is not complete without trying the roasted duck at Restoran Sunrise. Their signature duck is marinated with a family secret sauce and roasted to perfection with charcoal fire until the duck skin is crispy and the meat juicy. After placing an order, the staff will chop the duck meat into manageable pieces and serve them with a small bowl of black and fragrant duck sauce. Sunrise’s roasted ducks are so popular that they are sold out pretty fast, try to arrive early to avoid disappointment.
Looking for delicious Curry Laksa in Seapark? Head over to Sisters Curry Laksa at Restoran Sun Fatt Kee. The hawker stall has been around for more than 2 decades. Their famous Curry Laksa is always nicely presented and served with generous portions of blood cockles, chicken slices, long bean, bean sprout and tofu pok. The blood cockles are so fresh and juicy that most patrons would ask for more by paying an extra RM2.
Hoe Fong is one of the oldest restaurants in Seapark. Run by the third generation, the restaurant specializes in chicken rice with a choice of steamed or fried chicken. Most patrons flock to this restaurant for their signature fried chicken, which is well-prepared with thin and crispy skin and succulent meat. Hoe Fong’s chicken rice comes with a plate of aromatic rice, a plate of chicken, and a bowl of vegetable soup. Also enticing is their deep-fried Lobak, which is fragrant and crispy with a juicy filling.
Relatively new in Seapark, Yang Kee located at Restoran Tong Fong is a must-visit stall for KL Style Beef Noodles. Beef lovers can choose their favorite beef noodles cooked with different ingredients, including beef innards, beef balls, beef slices and beef briskets. A popular choice is the Mix Beef Noodle, which comes with a bowl of dry noodles topped with minced meat and a bowl of beef soup with beef balls, beef stomach, beef slices and beef briskets. Their signature Braised Sirloin Soup with Radish is only available on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Parked beside the wet market in Seapark, Aik Prawn Mee is a truck that serves delicious Penang style Prawn Mee and Assam Laksa. Be prepared to sweat while sampling their Prawn Mee with spicy soup rich in prawn flavors at an open-aired dining place beside the truck. Also very popular is their Assam Laksa topped with generous portions of fish and prawn paste. The Assam Laksa wins the hearts of patrons with its thick and creamy soup.
Hasan’s is another road-side food truck that offers delicious rojak and cendol. It is normally parked beside a mini-market in Seapark. A few tables are placed beside the truck, so that customers can enjoy the dishes at the open-aired dining place shaded by huge umbrellas. During lunch hours, the place is always packed with regulars who can’t wait to satisfy their tummies with Hasan’s delicious rojak drenched in special sweet sauce. You can choose to add in sotong to enhance the taste.
It’s hard not to miss this burger joint in Seapark, because there is always a long queue in front of the shop. MyBurgerLab’s famous burgers with homemade charcoal buns and meat patties have created a new trend of individualized made-to-order burgers as a contrast to hamburgers mass-produced by fast food chains. Their burgers are all creatively named, such as Say Cheese, A+, Hangover, Beautiful Mess, The Hulk, and many more. During peak hours, you might need to wait for an hour to get your freshly prepared burgers.
As its name suggests, Restoran Fu Kua is a restaurant offering more than a hundred different Chinese dishes and drinks that are prepared using bitter gourds. The restaurant’s owner is a lover of bitter gourd, and he has spent three to four years’ time to experiment different dishes with bitter gourds. The signature dish here is the Bitter Gourd Soup served with fresh bitter gourds and a variety of pork meat and innards, including pork stomach, pork liver, pork blood jelly, sliced pork and pork ball.
Located beside Maybank, Bumbung is a famous mamak stall that offers mouth-watering Nasi Lemak. The service is fast, because the food is “mass-produced” by several Indian staffs. More than 10 eggs are fried at the same time using a large frying pan to satisfy the demand. Try their Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng with aromatic rice topped with a perfectly fried egg with glistening egg yolk and a crispy fried chicken that is smashed and chopped into smaller pieces.
Dining at this roadside hawker stall is a feast for both the palate and the eyes. After placing an order, you can see how your wanton noodles are cooked and thrown into the air to make the noodles dry, so that it is easier for the noodles to soak up the sauce and become more flavorful. Another highlight is their char siew, which is freshly roasted by the owner daily using charcoal fire. Take a bite and enjoy the fragrant meat melting in your mouth!
